Become a CHCSI Member
Established in 1975, CHCSI (Camino Heights Community Services Inc.) exists to preserve and protect the open space in the Camino Heights and Camino Hills neighborhoods. CHCSI is a non-profit corporation that relies on a community membership program to carry out our goal of providing a safe area that provides value to its surrounding residents.
We need your help!
If you are a home owner in Camino Heights or Camino Hills, you can help. By becoming a member of CHCSI you will help determine the future uses and upkeep of the 40 acres of open space. You will become a voting member of CHCSI and help make decisions that will ultimately determine how the open space is used and enjoyed by the community. You will help bring value to home owners, help to create a community around our valuable open space, and help to maintain its safety. What does it mean to become a member?
By becoming a member of CHCSI you are expressing your support of the non-profit and its mission. We hope that you become involved by attending our annual member meeting and joining volunteer activities and community events. We also hope that you become an advocate of the open space, share your ideas with your neighbors, and encourage their participation as well. You will also become a voting member of CHCSI, meaning that you will help determine the future of the open space. What is required of me?
We hope that you actively participate in our membership meeting, community events and volunteer activities, but there aren’t any participation requirements of becoming a member. Your membership shows us that you support our mission and value the work that CHCSI does to protect the open space.Who is eligible to become a member?
Any Camino Heights or Camino Hills home owner can become a member of CHCSI. One voting membership is allowed per household, although all household members may attend the annual meeting. Non-owner renters may not become members.Does is cost money to become a member?
Yes, a one-time payment of $250 to CHCSI is required to become a voting member. CHCSI is a non-profit corporation dependent on the community to help maintain and protect the open space. Additionally, effective February 13, 2024, annual dues of $100 will be required, payable by March 31st. These membership dues are one way we are able to maintain solvency. In lieu of the annual $100 dues owed, members may choose to volunteer in service each year by serving as a board member or joining the open space maintenance team. What are the benefits of becoming a member of CHCSI?
Each member household is allowed to vote on such topics as:
decisions put forth before the membership
electing new board members
amending the bylaws of the non-profit corporation
Option to become a board member and lead the direction of CHCSI
Option to chair a specific committee that works towards adding value to the open space
May have the right to future land-use benefits (as determined by the CHCSI board and its current members).
