Camino Heights & Camino Hills Gazette: Winter 2023-2024

A newsletter informing the Camino Heights and Camino Hills Community.

Winter 2023-2024

Welcome

If you are new to the Camino Heights & Camino Hills Gazette, welcome! The first issue was produced last summer, and unfortunately the mailing list used was woefully incomplete. My apologies to those who did not receive it. I worked hard this past fall to create into Excel what I believe to be a correct list. If you ortsomeone you know did not receive theirs, please contact me! | hope the Gazette is informative, with reports of shared interest. Uppermost is information from Camino Heights Community Services, Inc. (CHCSI), which has governance over the open space in our subdivision. Roads and the El Dorado Trail are also of common interest. I find, walking with my dog Dixie, that folks readily share about seasonal flora and fauna as well as large animal sightings, so I welcome any newsworthy additions.

Every day finds these fine canines walking the streets of the neighborhood with their owners, plus many more. We enjoy a dog-friendly neighborhood!

Annual Meeting

On Tuesday 2/13, the CHCSI will hold its annual meeting in the multi-use room at Camino Elementary School on Snows Road. ALL residents in the subdivision are invited to hear about open space concerns, needs, and future plans. Everyone is encouraged to participate in the maintenance of the open space through membership, annual donations, and volunteerism.

Donations

The Open Space is in need of ongoing donations to keep afloat and meet yearly insurance costs, taxes, maintenance, and other experses. Donations may be sent to CHCSI, PO Box 7, Camino, Ca 95709, C/O Treasurer.

Have you seen this cat?

Since the Caldor Fire there has been an uptick of mountain lions in our area. El Dorado County offers these tips when confronted by a mountain lion: Do not approach the lion.Do not run from the lion. Hold onto any children; pick them up without crouching down, if possible. Do not crouch down, bend over, or turn your back on the lion. Do all you can to look as big as possible. Open your jacket, wave
